Postgres MCP Server With Row Level Rules
Give AI agents access to a PostgreSQL database through tools you control, not through a raw connection string. APIGenerator reads the schema and generates an MCP server with row rules, keys and logs.

Why not hand agents a database connection
A connection string gives an agent every table and every row, and a model that writes SQL can write the wrong SQL. A Postgres MCP server with defined tools limits what an agent sees and does to what you decide.
What the generated Postgres MCP server does
- Reads tables, columns, types, primary and foreign keys from your SQL DDL.
- Generates tools per table, with filters, sorting and pagination limits.
- Separates read tools from write tools, and you choose which tables get write tools at all.
- Applies row rules per key, for example an agent sees only rows of its own tenant or region.
- Uses parameterised queries, never SQL written by the model.
- Logs every call with the key and the tool.
Self hosted export or managed hosting
Export the server and run it next to your database, so data never leaves your network. Or deploy the generated api database layer to managed hosting and connect it through the mcp gateway.
Also from your Postgres schema
The same schema produces a REST API with docs. See create rest api and the guide on how to build a REST API from a database schema.
Questions about postgres mcp server
Not with the export. The exported server runs on your infrastructure next to your database. Only the schema is used to generate it.
Only through write tools you enable, table by table, and only within the row rules of their key.
Yes. APIGenerator also reads MySQL and SQLite DDL and Prisma schemas.
