API Generator FAQ

Answers about sources, outputs, hosting, security and billing. Pricing details are on the API generator pricing page, and the steps are on how API generator works.

APIGenerator is an API generator. It turns a plain English description, a database schema, a spreadsheet or an OpenAPI file into a working REST, GraphQL and MCP API with docs, keys, rate limits and tests, hosted for you or exported as code.

Plain English, SQL DDL for PostgreSQL, MySQL and SQLite, Prisma schemas, CSV and XLSX sheets, OpenAPI 3.x in JSON or YAML, and GraphQL SDL.

A REST API described in OpenAPI 3.1, a GraphQL API with SDL and resolvers, and an MCP server whose tools mirror your endpoints. You choose one or all of them per project.

Yes. Code export is part of every plan. You download the project in Node.js TypeScript, Python FastAPI or PHP Laravel with a Dockerfile and tests, and it is yours to run and change.

Yes. APIGenerator reads your schema to design the API. When you self host the export, your data stays in your database.

Yes. The demo on the homepage generates endpoints, a schema excerpt and MCP tools from your own input in your browser. There is no free plan, and the demo is not a plan.

It speaks the open Model Context Protocol. You add one URL and a key to your AI tool, and the agent sees your endpoints as tools with the same permissions as the key.

On managed hosting with HTTPS, separate environments, logs and usage analytics. Enterprise adds a data residency choice and private networking.

No. Your schemas, files and data are never used to train AI models. Files in the public demo are parsed in your browser and never uploaded.

One run that designs or redesigns an API from a source. Editing fields, resources and settings by hand does not use a generation.

Quotas count usage in the billing period, so deleting a project does not return projects, requests or generations already used.

Enterprise includes SSO with SAML, SCIM, an audit log, a 99.9 percent SLA, invoicing and a security review pack.

Yes, on Team and Enterprise. You publish a paid API with your own plans and keys for your customers.
